Part of the allure of being a celebrity, I’d argue, is the global admiration and vast crowds of faceless fans that accompany fame. There’s an indescribable excitement in knowing that there are thousands—if not millions—of people out there captivated by your work. But one has to ponder… are stars ever *stars* to other stars? (Meta!) Do A-listers freak out at the sight of fellow A-listers? How does this work?
A quick trip down memory lane would confirm that the answer is an emphatic yes. And to demonstrate their own celebrity-on-celebrity admiration, many a well-known person has stepped out in a playful tee that proudly exhibits said love for one another.
Just this week, for example, Chloe Sevigny stepped out in New York wearing a tee adorned with images of fellow actor Hannah Einbinder. One perpetually cool chick supporting another cool chick of the moment? You simply can’t help but love it—*especially* because Hollywood loves to pit women against each other. Speaking of which: Can someone please cast Sevigny and Einbinder in a film together? Is that too much to ask—are we *reaching* for the stars here?
Such a high-profile display of fandom has also spanned the past three decades. Back in 2000, for example, Madonna went through a significant phase of wearing embellished tees bearing the names of fellow pop icons like Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue. (Nothing quite like the Queen of Pop giving you her seal of approval.) In 2010, supermodel Claudia Schiffer also showed her support for her fellow superstar Naomi Campbell—by wearing a T-shirt of her at a Dolce & Gabbana event.
In 2014, there was even this whole scenario where Ryan Gosling wore a tee of Macaulay Culkin; Culkin responded by wearing a tee of Gosling wearing the tee of Culkin; Gosling then wore a tee of Culkin wearing the tee of Gosling wearing the tee of Culkin—and so on.
