During the spring 2026 collections in September and October last year, whimsical runway trends like bows and face paint made a significant impact, moving from the catwalk to the streets. However, the new fall season focused on inspiration drawn from the real world.
Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, an enduring fashion icon, is experiencing a revival through Ryan Murphy’s Love Story. We owe the minimalist, monochromatic looks that dominated this month’s fashion scene to CBK and the actress, Sarah Pidgeon, who portrays her. Celine’s influence was also prevalent. The American designer Michael Rider has turned the brand into a wellspring of inspiration. If you spotted street stylers (or several) with scarves draped over their shoulders, they were likely en route to the Celine show or had been influenced by Rider’s debut in June last year.
This season was all about fur, in more ways than one. Plush textures added an ASMR-like quality to showgoers’ attire, and it’s hard not to wonder if the popularity of Dogue has contributed to the rise in canine-inspired fashion. Leopard print was the pattern of the moment, with striking coats making the rounds. In Paris, the show venues were as eccentric as ever. Attending both Stella McCartney and Acne Studios required a one-hour drive through peak traffic, unless you opted for a Lime bike.
